Parent Mentor Council

The Parent Mentor Council was formed in the summer of 1999 as a forum for mentors to discuss issues which affect them, to generate ideas for upcoming trainings and workshops, and to share ideas between different projects. With 71 projects, we felt the need to share information several times a year, instead of just at statewide meetings.

The state parent mentor projects are divided into nine regions. Each region sends two representatives to the council meetings. Those representatives are responsible for sharing information from each council meeting with the individual mentors in their regions. Likewise, if a mentor has a particular issue they want raised at a council meeting, all they have to do is contact their region's representative.
