Kim is a non-reader. She has good computer skills and can find the games hidden in the software.

Over the years, various reading programs have been used to teach Kim to read. She basically memorizes the programs, and often appears to be able to read, but she cannot transfer those skills beyond the program.

She knows what billboards stand for, even if she can't read the words. She can properly identify products in the grocery store and she can tell you what traffic signs mean.

Kim loves books. She has several she takes with her when we go places. One is a bird book with pictures and descriptions of many different birds. She can identify the majority of the birds in it. Some of them are books that have more words than pictures. She seems to want so much to read and I believe she has some reading skills, but just not all the pieces.

Kim has a phenomenal memory. She can tell you about events that happened years ago, but may say they happened just the other day. She can recite whole movies verbatim. She is the "finder of lost things" at our house.
